Can you please tell me a bit about the coaching process?
The coaching process starts with identification of a career goal and an action plan. The measures of success are also identified. Then the coaching conversations keep the client focussed on the achievement of the coaching goal. During this process, there is a lot of exploration of deeper aspects of self, like limiting beliefs, values, identity which get challenged. New behaviors are also created and thus the coachee moves in the direction of lasting transformation.
I am looking for a promotion. How will coaching help me?
That’s great! It is good to have a career goal. Through the coaching process, you and your coach will jointly identify what skills need to be built/ demonstrated as well as if any behavioral challenges may be coming between you & your promotion. With that clarity, you can create a developmental plan customized to you and your needs. If you stay focused on taking action to modify behaviors, your efforts will get rewarded sooner than later. Your coach can also handhold you if you have to have an important career conversation with your manager or HR and want to make a case for your conversation. You will be better prepared and more confident for that conversation.
